Essay

In Dr Prestons essay he uses language and rhetorical devices to convey his point. He uses alliraition ,parallelism and .  He also starts of the essay by catching our eye. Making it interesting and making us want to keep reading.

At the beginning of the essay Dr. Preston uses retorical device to catch our eye. He starts of by stating," We should read the same books more than once, over time. As we change, the way we understand what we read changes. This is important."  From the first three sentences Dr Preston explains to us how important it is for us to understand a book better. Everytime we finish reading the book we might catch something els we dis not catch before. With that topic we get a sense of what we are now expecting to read about.

Throught his essay he also uses many language devices. For example In paragraph 5 he uses the words,"  reading — really reading." Which helps us get a better sence of that he was not just reading any book ,he was more into the then he has ever been before. Using alliteration is really helpful in an essay. It gives us a sence of how it can help us get a better understanding of he anyone would really want us to know how they really feel.

Dr. Preston also continues on his essay by using parallesim. Using parallesim gives us a better smoother way for it to be persuasive. For example in the quote," . I opened the cover, read the first page, sat down on the floor, and devoured the whole thing. Actually it devoured me. That book scared the shit out of me and I loved every minute. It didn’t matter that I didn’t understand every nuance.[5] I loved it so much that when I finished it, I immediately turned back to the first page and started reading it again. I may have stolen it. It gave me the sort of thrill I wish for everyone. Decades later, just typing the title at the beginning of this paragraph still gave me the chills." It gives us a smoother way of us understanding of how intersted and fascinating this book was to him. He gives us so mich details on how this book was so fascinating that it makes us all want to read it. With all these details and explanations it gives us temptation to read it and find out how it feels to be reading it and being in his shoes.

Using all this language and rhetorical devices are really helpful. It gives us a better sence of his point of view. It helps us understand what he really wants us to capture when and while reading his essay.
